AERA General Meeting – May 2019

The AERA General Meeting on May 28th in London had a full agenda. We considered issues including  passenger rights when a connection is missed; standards on EuroCity trains; good and not so good practice with passes and zonal tickets and the experiences of passengers using these; and methods of payment for public transport.

On the last of these matters, concern was expressed that Dutch Railways were considering introducting cashless ticketing and that it had already been introduced by Transport for London.  There are some obviously examples in, for example, going contactless in one’s own country, but this can cause problems when travelling abroad.

For all customers, there should be more than one way of paying for a journey
